Why do you work with another photographer?

Most wedding photographers work with an assistant and I work with a business partner who is also a qualified and experienced professional photographer. Working as a team allows us to divide our efforts ensuring that every aspect of the day is covered. While we each have our own style of photography, our images compliment eachother, providing you with a dual perspective on the day that captures the atmosphere of the occasion.

Can we have traditional group shots as well as contemporary images?

Of course. Although most couples tend to prefer the more contemporary reportage style images, we tend to find that parents prefer a more traditional approach. We can take whatever images you require and typically provide a mix of photographs that documents the day in a stylish and contemporay way while still providing images to please the older relatives.

How much time should we allow for the photography?

This is entirely up to you, depending on the style of images that you are looking for. We tend to find that 30-45 minutes is needed at the church/registry office after the ceremony, followed by an hour or so at the reception venue. If you require more traditional, formal shots you should allow a bit longer.

When can we discuss our requirements?

As part of our pricing Helen and I will visit you before the wedding for a personal consultation, which will typically take about an hour. We always like to meet beforehand, partly to discuss your requirements, but also to get to know you a little so that we can ensure that your personalities are reflected in the photographs taken on the day.

How many pictures do you take on the day?

This depends on which option you choose - whether you require full coverage of the whole day or just photographs at the church/registry office and reception. For a full day's coverage we will normally take 300-400 photographs.

Do we get to see all of the photographs?

No. Helen and I will edit the photographs, removing unsuitable images (e.g. people blinking, missed expressions, duplicates) and selecting the best images for you to see. From a full day's coverage you will be be provided with approximately 150-180 images

When will get to see the images?

Your photographs will be posted in an online gallery for everyone to see within 3 weeks of your wedding allowing you and your guests to view the images and order prints. The web address for your private online gallery will be given to your guests on the day and confirmed for you by email as soon as it is available. As part of the price for our option 2 package we will also provide you with printed contact sheets of the images.

Will the photographs be digitally manipulated?

We prefer to use the term 'finished', but yes, the images will be editted and processed using Adobe Photoshop. Taking a photograph is only part of the process. Producing good images has always required an element of post production, whether it be using tradtional methods on the darkroom or using todays digital techniques working with image production software.

How many images do you provide in colour / Black and White?

This is entirely up to you and something we can discuss when we meet. Black and white images are more popular than ever and as a matter of course we will choose a selection of images - those which we feel are most appropriate - and will render them in Black and White using specialist software that ensures optimum greyscale reproduction.

Why do you charge separately for prints?

This offers you the flexibility of choosing the images that you require from the selection that we will present to you. You can order as many or as few prints as you like and obviously relatives and guests can do the same. You also have the option of purchasing all of the images on a CD-ROM to have the photographs printed yourself if you prefer.

Your print prices are much higher than those seen in the High Street, why is this?

The prints that we provide are produced through a professional photographic lab, ensuring a level of quality that is unavailble in High Street outlets.

Who owns the copyright to the photographs?

As with all professional photography, the copyright remains with the photographer. If however, you would like to own all of the original images, you can purchase the complete set on a CD-ROM, allowing you to produce as many prints as you like.

What is the difference between 'traditional' and 'contemporary' albums?

Traditional albums are less flexible and generally come in a book bound format, with a single image mounted on each page. Contemporary albums are more flexible and come with a range of window mounts allowing up to 4 images to be displayed on each page. These albums are more popular and better suited to the more contemporary reportage style of wedding photography with a larger number of images that document the whole day

What is included in the album pricing?

Everything! The full package option that we provide includes the initial consultation, the photography on the day, the editting of the images and posting to an online gallery, the design of the album, the supply of the album, leaves and overlays, the production of all the prints and the delivery of the complete album

How many album designs do you offer

We offer the full selection from the Spicer Hallfield range of wedding albums which includes both traditional and contemporary albums in a range of finishes. We will discuss all of these options with you at your initial consultation

How long will it take to produce the finished album?

You should allow 6 weeks from the time of your wedding to the delivery of the finished album
